Company Bio

It was a chance conversation between a of well-respected industry expert, Dave Herod, and two close friends, Anthony McCaffrey and Michael Bedford. The topic was about the frustration regarding the perceived lack of quality and commitment throughout the carbon composite industry. that led to the forming of Cambridge Performance Composites.

CP Composites (CPC) opened its doors to business August 2011 in the town of Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire an area well known for composite laminating and motor sports. The following year the company purchased its first autoclave a 1.52 x 4m Italmatic; a major turning point for the future of the business.

CPC cut its new ‘production teeth’ on composite parts for the Le Mans LMP1 & LMP2 cars and as the company’s reputation for excellent service began to spread new customers came onboard from other motor sports including World Rally Championship and Formula 1.

This inevitably led to company growth and other the next couple of years Oli Thomson and Vinny Goodridge joined CPC. The company now had two highly experienced composite industry people at the helm and Unit 10 Stonehill, by virtue of size, was now restricting future growth. A new chapter in the life of this young company was about to happen.

2015 saw CP Composites move to its current site on the Stukeley Business Centre in its hometown of Huntingdon.

The company was by now specialising in the automotive industry from so called ‘super cars’ to WRC and F1.

However, this was not a restriction and the company have and continues to be involved with several ground-breaking innovative projects from cycling helmets to audio speakers. Mono aeroplanes to be-spoke prototypes.

A second Italmatic autoclave was installed in 2016 doubling CP Composite curing capacity at the same time Lance Mayers was recruited as Production and engineering manager adding a third experience member of the production management team. This investment has continued to date in all aspects of the business - management, infrastructure, equipment and people.

Most recently this has been the acquisition of a third specialist mini autoclave, a Plasma cleaning treatment system and CMM 3D scanning.

Present Day - CP Composites is a fast-growing company involved with the latest advancements in technology and as such people change within the organisation and industry.

Going into 2021 the management structure comprises of Brian Cooper (Managing Director) Lance Mayers (Production and Engineering Manager) Vince Goodridge (Production Scheduler) and Oli Thomson (Production Supervisor). But most importantly the whole of the CPC Team.

CP Composites ethos is, and has always been,

Integrity with Product Quality and Delivered on Time
